43northrd.com is an independent neighbor project. It has no governing authority over anything that happens to the property at 43 North Road. The Smoke Rise Board of Governors makes those decisions. Their official survey is the one that counts — please take it.
Our role is to broaden the conversation: additional options to consider, additional questions asked, and a public picture of what neighbors actually want.
One vote per device
Each browser session gets an anonymous marker (a random string stored in your browser). We use it only to prevent the same device from voting twice. We cannot connect that marker to your identity.
We don't use IP addresses, fingerprinting libraries, third-party cookies, or cross-device tracking. The trade-off: someone determined to vote twice could clear their browser data or use a second device. We accept that — making fraud impossible would require collecting personal information, and we'd rather keep things anonymous.

Results are real-time and public
Every vote shows up in the aggregated results immediately. We don't curate, weight, or rank order them. The numbers you see are the same numbers we see.
What these numbers can and can't tell you
They can tell you: what neighbors who chose to engage with this site think, in their own words and votes, right now. That's a real signal.
They can't tell you: what every resident thinks. Like every voluntary survey, ours is shaped by who chooses to participate. People who are more online, more tech-savvy, or more strongly opinionated are more likely to be counted. That's not a flaw unique to us — it's true of every digital community tool, including the Board's.
We try to mitigate this with print mailers, yard signs, a phone hotline, and outreach to less-online neighbors. We'll publish the channel mix alongside results when we can.
Open-text comments are moderated
Anything a neighbor types in a comment field is reviewed before it shows up on the public questions page. We approve good-faith questions and reject spam, personal attacks, or content that names individual Board members. Aggregated multiple-choice votes are never moderated — they're counted as cast.
Corrections and disputes
If you see something wrong — a number that doesn't add up, a question that should be asked differently, an organizer who should be named — please ask publicly on the community questions page. We answer in the open.
